Miss America Preliminary & State Pageants
After winning Miss Oak Cliff in the Miss World Contest in 1971, Durline Dunham was crowned Miss Oak Cliff 1972 in the Miss Texas Pageant for Miss America. She was crowned Miss American Sweetheart in 1974 and became Executive Director and Manager for the Miss Oak Cliff and Miss Red Bird Area Pageants for Miss Texas / Miss America. She was also named International Director for the American Pageant System and the Miss American Sweetheart Pageant. Durline has coached numerous contestants through the years. She was pageant director and manager for Sandi Miller when she won Miss Texas as Miss Red Bird Area in 1978 and was a member of the Miss Texas delegation to Miss America in Atlantic City. Other Miss America state winners that Durline coached in pageants include Lynette Falls, Miss New Jersey 1990; Dawan McPeak, Miss New York 1986 and Bobbie Candler, Miss Louisiana 1982 and National Sweetheart 1979. Both Lynette and Dawan are also alumni of the Miss American Sweetheart Pageant.
